EXIT 9 - STRAIGHT

Exit 9 were a nine-piece
funk band from New York who in 1975 cut this album for the Brunswick subsidiary
label BRC. In the tradition of other Soul Brother reissues, this is a
particularly sought after funk album with original pressings rare and
expensive. Appealing to the huge funk scene that has been steadily growing
world-wide, this album is rootsy laden with raw grooves, funky rhythms, tight
brass and strong melodies. There is also a slight jazz flavour to the
arrangements, making comparisons with early Kool & The Gang valid. The
album includes the dancefloor favourite 'Miss Funky Fox' along with many other
club and radio friendly tracks.
