Our label encompases classic and rare Soul, Funk and Jazz LP's, plus a range of 12" singles and a series of limited edition 45's. We've released Anthologies on revered artists from the Soul and Jazz fields and our Organic Soul series is geared towards highlighting the talents of new independent US soul artists.
Our aim is to continue to provide high quality releases covering the best black music of the past, prsent and future and with many more projects in the pipeline you can be sure to be seeing a lot more coming your way in due course

NORMAN CONNORS - YOU ARE MY STARSHIP/ROMANTIC JOURNEY
Norman Connors was born in Philadelphia in 1948. He became interested in jazz music by listening to MIles Davis, studied percussion and became a top drummer. He recorded albums with Archie Shepp and Pharoah Sanders. His first 2 albums as a leader from Cobblestone were Jazz fusion. CEDAR WALTON - ANIMATION/SOUNDSCAPES
Cedar Walton was born in 1934 and grew up in Dallas Texas before moving to New York.
In the late 1950’s he joined Kenny Dorham’s band, and played on John Coltrane’s classic ‘Giant Steps’. In the early 60’s he joined Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers playing with Freddie Hubbard and Wayne Shorter. The later part of the 60’s he spent at Prestige recording four albums and becoming a part of the house rhythm section on numerous others...

NATURAL FOUR - NATURAL FOUR/HEAVEN RIGHT HERE ON EARTH
The Natural Four were formed in 1967 by Chris James in San Francisco. Their first 45 'I Thought You were Mine' was released on the independent Boola- Boola label and is now extremely rare (and expensive).They recorded two more singles on the label.
In '69 they signed to ABC and recorded their first album 'Good Times' which included a more up-tempo version of that track. A single 'Devil Made me Do It' followed in '71 on Chess.

GIL SCOTT -HERON & BRIAN JACKSON - 1980
1980 was as much about an ending as it was about a beginning.  See below:
To those of us living in 1979, it felt like 1980 was the 21st century.  With 1984, the Orwellian doomsdate, right around the corner, we were concerned.  It didn’t feel like ’69 felt going into 1970.  Even though the Vietnam War was years away, many of us still saw a glimmer of hope in the seventies.

PATRICE RUSHEN - SHOUT IT OUT
Patrice was born in Los Angeles in 1954, she began studying music when she was three, and was giving piano recitals by the age of six. When she was twelve she played flute in the student orchestra, and in the Msingi (Swahili for root) Workshop, a jazz lab band founded in her high school by Reggie Andrews. Andrews helped Patrice produce her first three albums for Prestige.

VARIOUS - GROOVE ON DOWN VOL 3
The two previous volumes of ‘Groove On Down’ featured many of the best  underground disco boogie tracks from the late 70’s and early 80’s. On this volume we include more of these tracks along with a few earlier tracks representing the best of the soulful disco . As with the previous volumes the emphasis is on the quality of the vocals and the deep grooves.

WILLIE BOBO - HELL OF AN ACT TO FOLLOW/BOBO
Willie Bobo was one of the great Latin percussionists of his time. Bobo began on the bongos at age 14, but he is best known for his Timbales and Conga playing in Afro Cuban Jazz . Willie Bobo was the stage name of William Correa the nickname Bobo is said to have been bestowed by the jazz pianist Mary Lou Williams in the early 50's

BARBARA MASON - GIVE ME YOUR LOVE
Barbara released a string of singles starting with the non album track ‘Pow Pow Song’ then the hit ‘Bed And Board’ which had a more adult feel to it and was to set the tone for a lot of her material on Buddah, and at the time was considered a little risky for a female singer.

BARBARA MASON - LADY LOVE
Her debut album for Buddah ‘Give Me Your Love’ contained a reworking of her classic ‘Yes I’m Ready’, and another ballad hit ‘Bed And Board’. For her second Buddah album ‘Lady Love’ also recorded at Sigma sound Philadelphia in 1973, Barbara recut ‘Bed And Board’ and extended it to over 8 mins with a spoken word ‘rap’ section...

GIL SCOTT-HERON/BRIAN JACKSON - SECRETS
‘Secrets’ their 1978 album continues the journey started in the ‘Bridges’ album of 1977 and is another of their best albums. Secrets again features Brian Jackson on Synthesiser Bass which along with Harvey Mason’s drums underpins the deep sound. As with all their albums the lyrics are poignant and informative of society in the 1970’s.
